What about designs that are actually pretty common-looking and simple? They can be awesome too. This, for example, is a Cinova armchair and it’s one of the most comfortable-looking chairs ever. It’s also simple and classic enough to look exquisite in pretty much any type of living room, office or bedroom.
Hefer – his real last name — grew up in Johannesburg with a decidedly unartistic background. From high school athlete to army conscript to graphic designer, he eventually landed at Hunt Lascaris advertising as a commercial artist. From there, he evolved into his current work, armed with plenty of self-described “big ideas.” Hefer has said that his designs spring from a single question: Why does a chair have to be a chair? His collective works are a vivid representation of the fact that it doesn’t have to be.
The Polaire chair has its own way of being special. Its uniqueness comes from the fact that the backrest has this slit down the center which basically splits it into two separate halves. It’s definitely an unusual way of suggesting the idea of comfort but it actually works. Moreover, this unexpected design detail makes this piece a great candidate for the title of cool accent chair. The fact that the tapered legs match the color of the upholstery is pretty nice and quirky too.
2. Incorporate the sofa or sectional in circular groupings. You could have two–curved sofas "facing" each other with a round coffee table in between. To make the shape look less tricky, place the sofas at the center of the area. A curved sofa together with two chairs are just what you need to "produce" a cozy sitting nook. Two-curved sofa could flank the "fireplace", establishing a separate zone.
