LEATHER FUTON: I have "yet" to see a classier‐looking futon. Leather furniture seems to be most people's idea of the personification of luxury. It´s too second-rate that most leather furniture pieces are so expensive! Yet it‘s not so with this Leather Futon.

Training with master weaver Ismael Bey led Hefer to the Cape Town Society for the Blind, where Bey had also trained weavers. Collaborating with the society and Woodheads, a local leather company that has a 150-year history, Hefer brings his nests to life using leather offcuts and the native source of skills.

Designer Alicia Murphy used a sectional in the living room of a teensy trailer she converted into a plush family getaway in Montauk, New York, for this very reason: "If you were to use a sofa and a chair, you would have about 36” of dead space in the corner—but by using a sectional you give that corner life. You most likely will add seating for two or three more people if you use a corner sectional rather than a sofa and chair."

It’s pretty difficult to say what makes cool chairs look cool in the first place, mostly because there are so many different possibilities and so many little details capable of giving that impression. For the Fringes armchair it would obviously have to be the fringes. However, not any chair could pull off such a look which means that it’s important to look at this design detail in the context of the design as a whole.
