BENSEN‐SLEEPER SOFA: ´Simple´ as well as ‘elegant‘ are two words that come to mind when seeing this sofa bed. Bensen’s Sleeper Sofa Bed has a surprisingly silky form with tastefully modern design.

If you want to stitch the corner closed, use an upholsterer's stitch (ladder stitch) or an invisible stitch. Another option is carefully running a small bead of hot glue inside the fold and pressing the fold into place.

These indicate heat treatment (possibly with chemicals) or methyl bromide treatment. The pallet I used here has no marks, it looks like new wood and it's a smaller pallet, sometimes called a quarter-pallet. I got mine from a kitchen cabinet distributor next to my shop, but you can find new pallets online for less than $20.

This gives the chair a classy and elegant look which in this case also has a casual and funky vibe. The chair features a solid beech wood frame and a cushioned seat with curving back and arm rests combined into a single upholstered panel. The multicolored velvet upholstery is eye-catching in its own quirky way.

And because you make it yourself, it's completely customizable. The first thing you'll need for this project is a frame. Retrofitting a shipping pallet works perfectly. Once you're happy with your choice of a pallet, it's time to get to work creating your one-of-a-kind upholstered ottoman. It's easier than it looks — all you need are a few supplies and a very basic knowledge of sewing and woodworking.

Soft pinks and purples, like dusty rose and blush pink, pair beautifully with gray. The muted hues add a touch of femininity without overpowering the design. Metallics often complete this color palette, adding a chic touch of glamour to the overall look.

But for a big Texas house, where we regularly try to sit 10-12 adults, it’s not large either. The room is about 13’x13′ with two walls of huge windows (which I LOVE, but they do make furniture placement tricky) and – thanks to our fireplace renovation – one wall of cabinetry and fireplace. The fourth “wall” is open past the bar area to our kitchen table.
