Just like its namesake, the camelback sofa has a hump — or maybe two — that accents the main silhouette of this sofa style. This is a traditional style that was made popular in the 18th century by Chippendale and families who wanted aristocratic, formal furniture often opted for this style.

Yours truly is remembering a hallway-like common area that she and two roommates shared in New York City, in which an armchair was so crushed up next to a couch that they overlapped at the arms, the corner between them occupied by a side table that could fit a lamp and nothing else (and that was so crammed into the space you couldn't even see the legs of it, let alone clean it). But a sectional—the right size sectional—could have added one more seat to that corner, relaxing the cramped nature of the room we'd so poorly devised.

Its uniqueness comes from the fact that the backrest has this slit down the center which basically splits it into two separate halves. It’s definitely an unusual way of suggesting the idea of comfort but it actually works. Moreover, this unexpected design detail makes this piece a great candidate for the title of cool accent chair. The fact that the tapered legs match the color of the upholstery is pretty nice and quirky too.

No matter what form his work takes, it is part of an ever-growing artistic movement celebrating individualistic hand-crafted pieces as an antidote to today’s mass production. The mastery of different materials and the high level of workmanship is evident in the details on all his chairs. For example, mere stitching between the sections of leather is elevated to an important design detail on all the seats.
