Remember; when it comes to using bright colors in a living room; key is harmony. So; make sure to choose elements that are complementing with each other. If you don't really like the idea of using bright colors in the big furniture; putting colorful small ornaments can still bring summer vibe to your living room.

Besides being ultra-versatile and investment-worthy from a design standpoint, it was the first piece of furniture my husband and I bought for our first home. Since then, I’ve designed and redesigned our living room around that lovely gray sectional more times than I’ll admit.

This particular cabriole version includes jewels in the tufts for added glamour. It is a sofa style that can be as simple or opulent as you desire. Upholstered with a luxury material like velvet yields a much different design feeling than if it were upholstered in a more muted, textural neutral. His collective works are a vivid representation of the fact that it doesn’t have to be.

But for a big Texas house, where we regularly try to sit 10-12 adults, it’s not large either. The room is about 13’x13′ with two walls of huge windows (which I LOVE, but they do make furniture placement tricky) and – thanks to our fireplace renovation – one wall of cabinetry and fireplace. The fourth “wall” is open past the bar area to our kitchen table.

Known for its exposed wood and elegant legs, reminiscent of the Louis XV period, the cabriole also has a distinctive silhouette. It was also a popular shape in the work of furniture maker Thomas Chippendale.

Today, this sofa style lends a more formal air to any space, especially when upholstered in a formal fabric. A more casual textile choice would make it appropriate for a family room that doesn’t need a great deal of formality. In either case, the camelback sofa has some elements that characterize the style. The legs are typically exposed, the sofa has no back cushions and it usually has square or rolled arms.
