So we completely redid the fireplace and created a bookcase nook for the tv (you can read all about that project here), which realigned the room much more logically. But even with the addition of a wingback chair, we could still only seat 5 people really comfortably. Since we are now a family of 6, that proves to be rather disappointing.

This is an accent chair that looks lightweight and slender as well as super comfortable. It actually comes in three versions: with a low, medium or high backrest. We absolutely love its timeless and elegant design, the smooth edges, curves and the sculptural frame made of solid oak. The patinated brass rail is a very cool detail as well. The cushions are available in either fabric or leather and there are various combinations you can choose from in terms of materials overall.

Spice up with Throw Pillows: Even though it is mesmerizing; colorful summer sofa is clearly not for everyone. If you don´t really like putting such a huge furniture with very bright color in the middle of your living room; then colorful sofa is certainly not for you.

The whale-shaped chair is called Fiona Blackfish, in a reference to the documentary expose on killer whale treatment in Sea World parks. The furry pink tongue is a textural contrast to the leather and makes you want to be swallowed up like Jonah.

The animalistic designs he shows pull at your attention from across the design show floor, and not just because of their form and size. Catching a glimpse of the oversized head piques curiosity to see more; to see what’s inside that gaping mouth. Once you approach, the cozy, fur-lined interior looks so comfortable you have to fight an overwhelming urge to crawl inside and view the world from the interior perspective.

To really let your ottoman take centrestage, look to an oversized style with an extra large tray to match. We love that this tray has been used to tie in this property's beach house style through a bon bon jar of seaside pebbles, shells and sculptural coral.

I still remember hunter green patterned velour, puffy back, reclining sectionals that completely dwarfed even the largest of rooms… and I shudder. But sectionals have come so far since I was a girl in the early 90’s. And I am thrilled to show you how a HUGE sectional was actually the answer to our rather-on-the-small-side family room.

Regardless, this now-classic sofa has several characteristics that are always present: The back and the arms are both of one height and the back is deeply tufted with buttons. Traditionally, the arms were always rolled and the sofa had nailheads, however, modern styles are taking slight design liberties. This green Chesterfield from Abbyson Living has the suggestion of a roll from the interior side of the sofa, but still maintains a clean line from the exterior side.

The role of an accent role in some cases is to become a visual focal point for the space and to direct the attention towards a particular spot. Sometimes that is ensured by a design that’s sculptural and just a little bit theatrical, like that of the Quinaquina chair. It’s a swivel chair with a circular wooden base and an octagonal body.

It's important to keep the fabric grain straight here. Secure one side of the fabric under the frame at the center, then move out toward the corners. Staple a little at a time, then move to the opposite side, pulling firmly and evenly and out toward the corners. (This pulls out lumps and bumps.) Secure each side with a line of staples, moving out toward the corners but stopping at least 6 inches short of each corner.
