But for a big Texas house, where we regularly try to sit 10-12 adults, it’s not large either. The room is about 13’x13′ with two walls of huge windows (which I LOVE, but they do make furniture placement tricky) and – thanks to our fireplace renovation – one wall of cabinetry and fireplace. The fourth “wall” is open past the bar area to our kitchen table.

Besides being ultra-versatile and investment-worthy from a design standpoint, it was the first piece of furniture my husband and I bought for our first home. Since then, I’ve designed and redesigned our living room around that lovely gray sectional more times than I’ll admit.

If the sofa already has vivid colors; then choose a contrasting color for the surrounding. If the color of your sofa is soft and neutral; then put some colorful accents to make the room feels more cheerful. Make sure everything is balanced so that the design of the living room can be a feast for your eyes.

2. Move to the curtains: When summer comes; you will get more light than the previous season. Enjoying the softness of your colorful sofa will be perfect if you can get all the light. Take down your dark curtains and change it with a looser one. For a sample; you can use voile curtain. It is thin and wispy. However; if you feel that loose curtain is too open; you can trick your thick curtain with more colorful one.

4. Make a classic scheme: Having classic scheme as the new look for the summer is possible by combining two major things. It is sofa in warm biscuit tone and layer up soft white color. If you can find the one with watery blues in simple country pattern; it will be much prettier combination.
